Sevilla 2006

On 10 May 2006 the team of Sevilla won the UEFA Cup 2006. The team played in white shirts with black numbers and names. Although this combination is very basic, the shirts are a typographic relevation. A serifed typeface is used for numbers and names. The numbers look great and for the names the lowercase is used with a swash capital!
The typeface used is Monotype Corsiva. You can object that the numbers are rather thin (Corsiva has only one weight), that the typeface is italic instead of roman and that the swahs capital is a bit overdone, but it is much better than all the unimaginative constructed typefaces that spil most football jerseys. Viva Sevilla!
