FA Premier League
On May 14, 2008 the UEFA Cup final was won by Zenit St. Petersburg in a game against Glasgow Rangers. Both teams didn't apply the shirt numbers that they used before in this international competition. In this game both teams used the same shirt numbers – as far as I know a unique event in UEFA history.
The shirt numbers that were used in this final come from the typeface Gill Sans. The Bold Condensed font was used for the numbers with a small contourline. For the player's names the Regular font was used in lowercase.
As stated before, the Gill Sans figures are very nice and legible. It looks as if UEFA has contacted a typographic adviser. At last.
